Shai Waldrip

Shai Waldrip is a postdoctoral scholar in the Boussard lab. Her research aims to develop tools that will support clinicians in the identification of cancer patients needing mental health support. Specifically, she will develop and refine classifiers using a variety of models (e.g., transformer models) for post-diagnosis depression. She will create a framework to evaluate bias and fairness of the algorithms as well as their clinical feasibility and utility. She holds a BS in Biology from Georgia Gwinnett College and a PhD in Biomedical Science from Morehouse School of Medicine. She has served her community as the President of the AUC Data Science club and the Vice President of the Bioethics club. She is also the founder of BODEGA, a biomedical data science summer research program for diverse undergraduate, graduate, and medical students attending HBCUs in Atlanta. She enjoys reading, listening to music, discovering new cafes, and enjoying the greenery.
